Paint is one of the cheapest and ways to make any space look better. In fact, it’s our favourite way to update a space. Even a laundry room is more inviting with a fresh coat of paint.
The laundry room in our first house is dark as it’s tucked away in a windowless corner of the basement. Both units share the space so it gets a fair amount of use. Like the rest of the house, the laundry room in needed some love. Of course, we had a lot of painting to do upstairs and downstairs first. Needless to say, the laundry room was put at the bottom of the list while we focused on the upstairs and basement suite. We never did get it painted while we lived there. Other projects seemed to come up and it was good enough for a laundry room. We finally made some time between renters to spruce it up – what a difference!
Stairs Before and After
Admittedly, stairs are one of our least favorite things to paint. They are picky with lots of corners and angles. Plus, it was hard to access underneath, especially with the hot water tank in the way. Nevertheless, we persevered and it was well worth it. Using the same lighter colour on the stairs and floor makes the space brighter and look cared for. The floor is also much easier to clean. All for the low price of some paint and time.
Laundry Room Before and After
The space will need maintenance over time due to renters walking on the painted surfaces. However, now that we have a solid base coat done, future touch ups should be fast and easy. As well, we won’t need to paint underneath the stairs for a loooong time as this area doesn’t get any wear.
