One Room Challenge – Week 5 – Patio and Fire Pit Area
Week 5 We have made some great progress this week! It wasn’t progress on what we thought we were going to accomplish (thanks to a stomach flu that went through our house) BUT there has been progress nonetheless! Needless to say, one of the other reasons it’s hard to get things done with a Little is the numerous germs they bring home and delightfully share.
What we accomplished this week:
Finished assembling and placing the arbour
Put the shed together
Created light poles in planters
Built fire pit
Staked out kid’s play area
Leveled sand and started placing pavers
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly this Week:
Good: made progress on the fun pieces of the project that will make the space fun and inviting
Bad: didn’t get the pavers laid as planned
Ugly: the numerous trips to the bathroom 🙁
Bringing our Vision to Life
We envision the patio being an area for us to relax and chat in the evening after work and socialize on the weekend. We also want to create a space that’s easy to hang out with our friends who also have kids. To help this, we are adding a small patch of turf. Close enough for the adults to hang out and keep an eye on the munchkins but adult feeling enough at the same time. Fortunately, while picking up the needed nuts and bolts for the arbour, I found the cutest tent for the kiddos area – we can’t wait for it to be done!
Race to the Finish
Obviously, this week we are focusing on getting everything finished! It’s crunch time and we need to pull everything together, including: stringing the lights, creating the bar in the shed, and laying as many pavers as possible!
