We had a few reasons why we wanted to renovate: add value, update the house, generate income from a basement suite – to name a few. But part way through our renovation we felt overwhelmed by all of the decisions, mess and money involved in the process. Fortunately, the overwhelm doesn’t usually affect both us at the same time. In those moments, we rely on each other, our support system and our renovation motivation. Regardless, when surrounded by drywall dust, unfinished work and bills, it can be hard to remember why you started a renovation in the first place.
What’s your renovation motivation?
To help you with this, we’ve created a FREE printable for you! We’ve compiled a full-page checklist of reasons why you want renovate so you are both clear about your motivation. Take a few minutes to read through it together and check off all the reasons you’ve decided to renovate. Don’t worry, there’s space to add your own unique reasons.
From both renovations, we’ve learned that knowing the motivation for a project was key to its success. Being on the same page and clear on the purpose of a renovation helps keep focus on the work that needs to be done. It also helps keep you going when it feels like it’s never going to end – especially if you’re doing some/all of the work yourselves. We have also compiled a short checklist of reasons you’re choosing to complete some or all of the project yourselves.

We all need a little help sometimes
You can do this! We also know that everyone needs a little help sometimes. Why not outline your support system before you start? As a bonus, we’ve added an area for you to list friends, family and companies you can rely on. Knowing ahead of time where you can get support reduces the guesswork when you’re tired, frustrated or you come across a surprise.
Renovation Motivation Reminder
All teams need a few cheer leaders to support them. So print a few copies to post around the renovation site and give to your supporters. We also recommend taking a picture with your phone of your completed Essential Renovation Motivation Checklist so you will always have a reminder with you.

I am one person who keeps renovating my home every year – I have redone almost all the walls. Great info. Thanks for Sharing in Bloggers Pit Stop – Pit Stop Crew
Thanks for checking us out, Menaka! Once you start renovating, it’s hard to stop lol. We finished the major renovations and have been working away at the settling in and making it ours – it’s been a bit more budget friendly that way too.
We have been updating our home and this is just what we need!
Have a great week,
Kippi
